STAY IN THE MODERN BOTIQUE BOXOTEL IN MONTREAL CANADA

Boxotel is a 4 star boutique hotel with and artsy, high tech and industrial feel to it. Located in the Latin District of Montreal it's a hidden gem.

Starting at $205 for a room for 2, but during the ON season expect to pay around $230. Family stays and rooms that accommodate 4 start at $255.

Family Friendly Hotel? - not so much, but it depends
I wouldn’t say this hotel is particularly family friendly, they do have larger rooms that could sleep childeren that are old enough to sleep in a bed, there were people that had kids with them (including us!) while we were visiting, but our personal experience with 2 children under 2 well, let's just say that we will wait a while before going back with the kids. This is in no way reflecting negatively upon the hotel, as we did have a great stay and it is very clear they are strictly a boutique hotel so large spacious family rooms and kid friendly areas are not available.
Accommodations
Boxotel is a fun, artsy and high tech boutique hotel. The rooms are sleek and carry through the minimalist/industrial design esthetic with concrete exposed walls and sealed concrete floors..

The photo above is the view looking at the desk and kitchen area from the bed/ seating area.

It was easy to create space for the kids to play in the room because our bed folded up and transitioned into a seating area.

The bathroom in our hotel room was spacious and access friendly.
The kitchen was cute, modern in design esthetic and easy to use.

I loved that we had the comforts of being home in our hotel suite. small kitchen, refrigerator, washer and dryer made it so easy to keep extra food for the kids, and wash our clothes before packing up and heading home.

Hotel Services & Amenities
We found the concierge to be friendly and accommodating. it was nice to be greeted with friendly staff when we arrived. For such a small hotel we were pleasantly surprised to find a great rooftop area a clean and simple fitness room and a dry sauna.

I personally loved the idea of having a hot tub that doubled as a pool (the kind where you can swim in place) - a couple of the nights we were there we rigged our phones up to double as a baby monitor and snuck up there to enjoy the view and a quick drink while the kids were asleep (luckily we were only 1 floor down from the rooftop). The view at night is absolutely beautiful BTW.

Location & Things to do in Montreal, Canada
The fact that the kid friendly experience was lacking at the hotel did not deter us from having a great family vacation - located in the Latin District, there were a lot of things to walk to but getting around Montreal to see other major tourist attractions such as the Atwater Market, Science Center, Bio Dome and Botanical Gardens a car or taxi was needed.

The Montreal Science Center was a lot of fun for kids of all ages! we can't wait to have the opportunity to visit again and experience the exhibits that are ever changing.

Deluth Ave was recommended by a friend for great places to eat, and it didn't disappoint. The walk there from the Boxotel gives you a sense of the city people are accommodating and friendly which is always a plus when traveling with kids!
